Supply Chain Drones to be Assessed by Kenco’s McLelland at SCM Live Americas
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.—January 18, 2017 (James Street Media Services)—Kenco Innovation Lab Research Manager Matt McLelland will be presenting on the current status and usage of drones in warehousing and fulfillment at the upcoming SCM World Live Americas conference.
McLelland’s presentation—“Accelerating Drone Technology Across the Supply Chain”—is scheduled for Wednesday, February 1 at the conference, which is being held at the Turnberry Isle Resort in Miami, FL.
“There has been a great deal of publicity about the use of drones in last-mile delivery,” said McLelland. “While that has great potential, there are other areas of the supply chain where drones can be employed now—or very soon. At Live Americas, we’ll explore those opportunities, and provide tips for vetting how drones can assist with inventory management, building inspections, yard management, intralogistics, and security.”
Live Americas is a forum for high-level directors of supply chain operations looking to deliver breakthrough visibility of demand and supply for the digital future. McLelland’s session will focus on the “urgent need” to consider where and how drones might fit into their supply chain strategy.
“Whether we are talking supply chain sensing applications like agriculture inspection by drone, or demand-response applications, it’s increasingly clear that drones should be considered for inclusion in most companies’ digital roadmap,” said McLelland.
The Live Americas conference runs January 29–February 1. Later this year, McLelland will be speaking at JDA’s Focus 2017 event in Las Vegas, Nevada that begins April 25.
