FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Cary, NC, September 29, 2011 (James Street Media Services)--Railinc announced today an upgrade to its Switching Settlements Data Exchange (SSDX) that makes the exchange more accessible to railroads with limited IT resources. New features of the exchange include an enhanced Excel file layout that railroads can populate with data on switching charges and a web interface through which users can easily upload the file.

“SSDX has delivered consistent value to large rail carriers,” said Allen West, president and CEO. “With this upgrade, SSDX’s benefits can extend across the rail industry and can help more companies that use or provide switching services streamline their billing to save time and money.”

SSDX is a monthly financial exchange that offers railroads of all sizes an automated, standardized way to process switching charges. The new Excel file layout and web interface offer small railroads a way to lower business costs and improve operations. In addition, SSDX now integrates with Railinc’s Railroad Clearinghouse, a centralized process for admini

stering and transferring funds among rail partners. This ensures accurate, timely payments by facilitating electronic-funds transfers and eliminates the need for companies to make multiple financial transactions to settle monthly switching charges.
