HILLSIDE, Ill.—November 16, 2011 (James Street Media Services)—HomeDirectUSA, the leading U.S. provider of “white-glove” home deliveries for large consumer goods, has announced the launch of Home to HomeTM, a unique service for the movement of small household goods shipments from one residence to another.

“Our market research revealed that slow service, high rates and peak season van line capacity constraints discouraged potential consumers needing smaller moves from one residence to another,” says Brian Gallagher, CEO, HomeDirectUSA. “Because we already operate a nationwide home delivery network—and our network handles large, sensitive items—we knew we could fill a void in the market.”

If moved by regulated household goods carriers, these smaller shipments are normally handled at a minimum tariff of $1,200--even for the transport of just one item. Lower costs are possible for these shipments if they are provided by brokers utilizing Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) carriers, but the handling requirements, lack of product packaging, and high opportunity for damage make the consumer’s experience less than ideal.

The new service, Home to Home, is available wholesale to van lines and local movers who can now fulfill consumer requests for such moves profitably at affordable rates, and with delivery times of seven to 14 business days. Moving companies using Home to Home simply complete their order online and collect advance payment via credit card or PayPal from their consumer customers. Once payment is made, HomeDirect provides all the necessary consumer communication and services, including product packaging, email status updates to consumer, pick-up, transportation, and delivery.

As an example of the pricing and service available, a shipment of three household goods items cross-country via Home to Home can typically be delivered in 14 business days, and at a cost to the consumer of approximately $400.

Items that can be moved by Home to Home include furniture, appliances, mattresses, fitness equipment, home electronics, game tables, mobility products, office equipment, health and wellness equipment, and more.
